Turn your leftover yarn into something cute and useful with Cottage Hair Accessories—a collection of 8 fun little patterns for scrunchies, bows, hair ties, and more. These accessories are quick to make, easy to customize, and perfect for using up those yarn scraps you’ve been saving.

Each piece is simple to knit, using just knit and purl stitches, with a few easy increases and decreases for shaping. Some are worked flat, others in the round—but all are totally approachable no matter your skill level.

They’re light on yardage and big on charm, making them great for gifting or just adding something handmade to your everyday look.

What’s Included

Cottage Hair Accessories includes:

  • Scrunchies – with or without a decorative edge

  • 4 Hair Bows – small and large in both fingering and DK

  • Long Hair Tie – sweet and simple for ponytails or messy buns

  • Bow Tie – adds a little flair without much fuss

You’ll get separate instructions for fingering and DK weight yarns, with recommended needles, yardage, and gauge for each.

Want to mix things up? Try adding a bow to a scrunchie or tying a hair scarf over a bun. These pieces are easy to combine and fun to style however you like.

Construction Notes

  • Skills used:

    • Knit and purl

    • Simple increases and decreases

    • Knit flat or in the round

  • Yarn:

Fingering or DK weight scraps

(Note: wool and wool blends block best—cotton yarns don’t hold shape as well)

  • Needles:

US 4 (3.5mm) to US 8 (5.0mm), depending on yarn and pattern

Use DPNs or circulars (16–40") as needed

  • Blocking:

These little knits shine after a good wet block, especially the bows and ties. Pin them out and let them dry fully for the best shape and drape.
