Design Details

Sea Glass Mittens feature a bold 1x1 colorwork pattern, alternating between your main color and contrasting scraps, switching colors every round for a striking, kaleidoscope effect.

These mittens are knit in the round using either double-pointed needles or the magic loop method—choose whichever works best for you. The cuffs and thumbs are knit in the main color, creating a subtle contrast with the colorful colorwork effect of the hand. The seamless construction means fewer ends to weave in and a polished finish.

Construction Overview

Sea Glass Mittens are knit in the round, starting with a ribbed cuff. Once you complete the cuff, the 1x1 colorwork begins, alternating between the main color and scraps of your choice. Increases for the thumb are made along the palm, and once the thumb stitches are placed on waste yarn, you continue working the colorwork up to the fingertips, where a decrease section shapes the top of the mitten.

After finishing the body of the mitten, the thumb is picked up and knit in the round. Once complete, block your mittens for a perfect finish, and fold the ribbed cuff for a snug and cozy fit.
